Whether you are visiting Houston or relocating to the area, you will find a wide variety of attractions to hold your interest.

Museum District - The museum district in Houston alone contains enough interesting museums to keep you busy and entertained for days on end. Just a few of the museums which can be found in the district include:

  • Buffalo Soldiers National Museum - The museum is dedicated to educating the public about the contributions and participation of African-American soldiers from the Revolutionary War to modern day.
  • The Children’s Museum of Houston - This museum offers 14 galleries of complete hands-on exhibits and activities. This museum is considered to be the number one children’s museum in the entire country.
  • Holocaust Museum - The museum serves as a living testament to the men, women and children who perished during the Holocaust.
  • Battleship Texas - The last of the battleships that participated in World War II, Battleship Texas was the first battleship memorial museum to be established in the country.

Downtown Aquarium - Featuring 500,000 gallons, a Ferris Wheel, restaurant and Shark Voyage, this is a one of a kind adventure that is definitely a must see if you are in the Houston area. More than 200 different species of marine life can be discovered in the aquarium in addition to a wide variety of different exhibits including a rainforest exhibit and habitats dedicated to the Louisiana Swamp and the Gulf of Mexico.

The Galleria - This expansive mall, featuring some of the most exclusive and well known department stores in the world, is an attraction in and of itself. 24 million visitors make their way through the mall each year to visit the more than 375 stores, nearly 3 dozen restaurants and full sized ice rink which are housed in the mall. Stores featured in the mall include Chanel, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and Jimmy Choo.

Houston Zoo - Set amidst 55 acres, the Houston Zoo provides a lush setting for more than 4,500 animals covering 800 different species. Many of the exotic animals which make their home in the zoo can be found intricately carved on the zoo’s carousel; which is a work of art that should not be missed.

San Jacinto Monument and Museum - Established to honor the brave men who fought in the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, the monument is one of the most recognizable sites in Texas besides the Alamo. Artifacts in the museum include Spanish treasure, ancient Aztec artifacts, antique firearms, currency from around the world, personal effects that belonged to early Americans, Mexican artwork and rare French trappings.

Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center - The Space Center in Houston serves as the main control center that monitors and coordinates all spaceflight for the nation. All American astronauts as well as international partner astronauts are trained at the facility.
