Guide to Denver NeighborhoodsDenver, Colorado is home to a wide number of distinctive neighborhoods, each offering its own unique flavor and advantages. Downtown/LoDo provides each access to everything the downtown area has to offer including entertainment, shopping and fine dining venues. Residents who live in the area find that they seldom have to actually leave the area as everything they want and need is right at their doorstep. Berkeley Park - Located on Tennyson Street, this neighborhood offers quaint storefronts and charming homes. Cherry Creek - One of the most well heeled neighborhoods in the entire city. If you are looking for an old money neighborhood, this is it. Colorado Springs - Inhabited by numerous military families due to the close proximity to five military bases and the U.S. Air Force Academy, this neighborhood tends to be conservative in nature. Evergreen - First established in the mid-19th century, today this community is one of the most well to do neighborhoods in the city. As a suburb of Denver, it is actually located some 30 miles outside of Denver. Most of the 30,000 members of the population commute to work in Denver proper. Five Points - Traditionally, this neighborhood has been primarily African-American; however, in recent years it has begun to diversify. Highlands - Not to be confused with the separate neighborhood of Highlands Ranch, this neighborhood has undergone dramatic changes in just the last few years. As an up and coming neighborhood, Highlands offers cozy restaurants, martini bars and novelty stores. Old South Pearl Street> - Appearing like a Norman Rockwell scene, this neighborhood features a 9 strip block of shops, eateries and Victorian homes. Stapleton - Much of the neighborhood is still under construction; however, this neighborhood is up and coming and is the setting of an idyllic stable neighborhood. Denver Tech Center - Set with big businesses, this area serves as the center for Denver culture. Washington Park — Washington Park serves as the center of this neighborhood and is located in South Center Denver. Many residents feel the neighborhood is the perfect location for young professionals. Most housing options in the area include condos and apartment complexes, although Victorian style brick homes do border the area near the park. Capitol Hill - This is one of the most diverse and eclectic neighborhoods in the city. The neighborhoods is primarily populated with studios and one-bedroom apartments. Thornton - Commuters in particular are attracted to this neighborhood. Located off I-25, it is only about 15 minutes from Denver. Approximately 100,000 commuters travel from or through the neighborhood each day. Highlands Ranch - Nearly 90,000 residents call this planned neighborhood home. Batting cages, off-leash dog runs, skating ranks and other amenities are enjoyed by residents. Each of the four neighborhoods within the community, Westridge, Eastridge, Northridge and Southridge, has its own rec center. 14 neighborhood parks, three community parks, 70 miles of trails and 2,000 acres of open space add to the benefits of Highlands Ranch. |
