Denver Museum of Nature and Science-A great place to visit for both education and family fun. An ever changing display of activities and exhibits provide fun for all ages along with a planetarium and IMAX theater. The Loveland Ski Area-Easily the most popular ski resort in the area, Loveland is well known for its great snow and even better views. Includes an onsite restaurant where you can enjoy a warm dinner after a day on the slopes. 16th Street Mall-An eclectic mix of dining, entertainment and shopping stretching over a 16 block area in downtown Denver. Sidewalks are pedestrian friendly and provide the perfect opportunity for a leisurely stroll or even people watching. Colorado State Capitol-Climb the steps of the capitol to the 15th step and you will officially be 5,280 feet above sea level; for the sake of convenience exactly one mile high. The step is marked for easy reference. While you are there be sure to check out the gold leaf covered dome of the capitol building. LoDo-Also known as lower downtown was designated as a historic district in 1988 and since that time the redbrick Victorian neighborhood has experienced significant revitalization. Spanning 26 blocks, the area is now home to high-end restaurants and live-work lofts. The area also serves as the center of nightlife in Denver with plenty of upscale techno, jazz and retro dance clubs. The Molly Brown House Museum-Home of the world renowned Unsinkable Molly Brown, survivor of the Titanic Sinking in 1912, this quaint stone home located on Capitol Hill has now been restored by the Denver preservation society. Visitors are met with women in period dress, who provide a tour of the home and provide interesting facts about the Unsinkable Molly Brown. U.S. Mint-The facility was originally opened in the mid-19th century in order to change the silver and gold that was discovered in the local mines into ingots and coins. After being purchased by the US Treasury in 1863, the building became the US Mint. In 1906, the facility began to actually mint coins. |
