Dallas Special Annual Events

Dallas, and the greater DFW area, is home to a wide range of special annual events. Below is an overview of some of the most popular events held throughout the year.

The New Year is kicked off with the Kid Film Festival. The festival has been held for more than two decades and features both new and classic children's film from around the world.

The Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show and Rodeo is one of the largest such events in the southwest. Dating back to 1896, the event is highly popular in the area and boasts an annual rodeo along with commercial exhibits, entertainment, auctions and much more.

Savor Dallas offers a way to celebrate the best that Dallas has to offer. Events and activities include a Wine Stroll, wine tasting seminars, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations and an International Grand Tasting. Event held in March.

Mayfest in Dallas actually begins in late April with a celebration of spring with numerous arts and crafts as well as entertainment.

Texas International Blues Festival pays tribute to blues music with two days of blues entertainment from some of he best blues musicians throughout the state and held in August of each year.

Celebrate Greek culture with the Greek Festival of Texas held in October. Activities and events include Greek dancing as well as food, music, arts and crafts.

The State Fair of Texas runs through early October and offers numerous lively activities including music, midway rides, live stock events and exhibits.

ZestFest offers the opportunity to show off your love for bold flavor. Events include cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs, music, food samples, interactive contests.

Texas Heritage Crafts Festival-Hosted by Six Flags over Texas, this old fashioned country fair features food, homemade crafts and music.

Charity Car, Truck and Cycle Show offers an opportunity for car enthusiasts to gather together. The event benefits numerous charities through pig races, door prizes, pony rides and goody bags.

SnowFest-The chances of seeing real snow in Dallas may or may not be good depending on the weather but this festival will certainly get you geared up for winter with exhibits all focused on a winter wonderland theme.

Western Swing Festival-Features campfire songs and cowboy poetry.

Christmas Boat Parade and Bonfire-Start the holiday season off with this unique event. Decorated boats make their way up the lake located at Grand Prairie's Lynn Creek Park. The evening is completed with a fireworks show.

Cotton Bowl Parade of Bands-see some of the best bands from around the country.

Dickens-Step back in time in Plano in this Charles Dickens inspired winter wonderland. Features carolers, choirs and more.

Celebrity Cutting-come and watch your favorite celebrities at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Event includes sports, music, buffet, silent auction and concert.
