The three-story Nunnemacher building is among the oldest existing commercial buildings in Milwaukee, having been built in 1870. The Meinecke Toy Company building, once Milwaukee's leading distributor of imported toys and fancy goods, was built in 1891. In 1997, these important Milwaukee landmarks were delicately renovated. City Hall Square was awarded the prestigious Downtown Achievement Brick and Mortar Award in 2001. City Hall Square Apartments is located on the Milwaukee River, directly across the Street from Milwaukee's City Hall.
