About City Hall Square Apartments

The historic buildings that comprise City Hall Square Apartments - the Italianate Nunnemacher building and the Victorian Meinecke Toy Company are important landmarks in the Plankington Wells/Water Street District. Once the civic and commercial heart of Milwaukee, the entire neighborhood is listed on the national Register of Historic Places. The three-story Nunnemacher building is among the oldest existing commercial buildings in Milwaukee, having been built in 1870. The Meinecke Toy Company building, once Milwaukee's leading distributor of imported toys and fancy goods, was built in 1891. In 1997, these important Milwaukee landmarks were delicately renovated. City Hall Square was awarded the prestigious Downtown Achievement Brick and Mortar Award in 2001. City Hall Square Apartments is located on the Milwaukee River, directly across the Street from Milwaukee's City Hall. Living at City Hall Square among vibrant residential and commercial development, you will experience contemporary city living with panoramic views of the river and Milwaukee's historic buildings.
