The city of Austin is a study in contrasts. It serves as the capital city for the state of Texas, but its most famous feature is the massive University of Texas that calls the town home. This odd combination leads to both expensive and decadent Austin apartments, as well as moderately to low priced Austin Apartments aimed at the gigantic student body. The town was founded in the 1830’s, and has served as the capital of Texas since day one. While the city has always been a beautiful example of genuine Texas hospitality, it wasn’t until the University of Texas opened its doors in the mid-1800’s that young people from all over the state began to flock to this area. Today, Austin is known as an amazing city, rife with culture and sports fan passion that knows no bounds.

Without a doubt, the two biggest tourist attractions in Austin are the capital and the university. Tens of thousands of young adults attend the University of Texas at Austin every year, not to mention the large population of lawmakers that keeps America’s second largest state running year round. The city of Austin also prides itself on having many historic and important museums, art galleries and festivals throughout the year. The town of Austin is the center of the Texas universe during fall Saturdays when the beloved Texas Longhorns take the field. If you have an Austin apartment near the university, don’t expect to get much sleep the night before the big game!

Perhaps the best feature of Austin is that it is such a diverse and welcoming community. You have a great combination of government and university styles, so you know you won’t have to worry about oppressive ideals taking over the city, even in a traditionally conservative area like Texas. You also have a wide range of Austin apartments to choose from at every price range you can imagine. Since the various apartments in the city must cater to such a wide range of budgets, no matter how much, or how little, you can afford, you’ll find a great place to call home.

Taking a closer look at various Austin apartments, you can expect to pay as little as $400-$500 for a nice 500-600 square foot unit. One important fact that you need to keep in mind, the closer to the university you are, the less rent will be in most cases, while the closer you are to the capital, the more it might be. For a one bedroom unit in a nice area, you can expect to pay $750-$800, while a two bedroom unit will run you approximately $1000. An executive apartment with all of the bells and whistles you can imagine will cost upwards of $1500, but in the right neighborhood could be much less.
