Among the rolling hills and the beautiful blue sky of Tennessee is the city of Knoxville. Located in the eastern half of the state, Knoxville is a medium sized city with a metro population of over 600,000. Founded in the late 1700’s, Knoxville was actually the early capital of Tennessee because of its eastern location. As exploration of the state pushed westward, the capital was later moved. Today, Knoxville is a city powered by the gigantic campus of the University of Tennessee, as well as technology jobs that stretch from Eastern Tennessee into Virginia. The cost of living here is just a hair below the national average, which makes renting a Knoxville apartment all the more appealing.

There is plenty to see and do in Knoxville, but most of it revolves around the campus of the University of Tennessee. The Volunteers field one of the most popular athletic teams in the nation, and during fall Sundays, over 110,000 pack into the local football stadium for the game of the week. The city is draped in orange and white, the team colors of the Volunteers, and business as usual grinds to a halt. But Knoxville is about more than just football. The woman’s basketball team at the University of Tennessee is actually more successful than the football team, having won several national championships over the past 10 years.

If you aren’t into sports, there is still plenty to see and do in Knoxville. The area is surrounded by some of the most beautiful hills and valleys anywhere in the country. This makes for perfect hiking, fishing and hunting, as well as camping and biking. The beautiful scenery here is really Knoxville’s biggest asset. It is difficult to visit here and not be moved by the incredible sunsets, the crisp, clean air and the smile that always seems to be on everyone’s face (even when the Vols lose). If people here seem content it is because they are.

If you’re interested in renting out a studio Knoxville apartment, you can expect to pay $425-$600. A one bedroom Knoxville apartment will go for $650-$800, while a two bedroom Knoxville apartment will cost you $900-$1100. If you need a deluxe Knoxville apartment with all the amenities you could ever want, be prepared to pay upwards of $1200. One of the main reasons why the price for apartments here is lower than many would think is because of the large university and the need for affordable housing.
