If you could take a poll and ask everyone from coast to coast where the nicest folks in the nation live, they would likely tell you in Minnesota. The city of Bloomington is located just south of Minneapolis/St. Paul and is one of the most popular suburbs in the whole Twin Cities area. The origins of the city can be traced back to the mid 1800’s, before Minnesota was even a state. With the rise of suburban living in the 1950’s, Bloomington quickly became the most populous suburb in the area and it retains this title to this day. But the main reason why Bloomington is known to people outside of Minnesota is for the gigantic Mall of America, one of the largest malls in the world. The city of Bloomington also use to be home to Metropolitan Stadium, the former home of Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins before they moved into the Metrodome in downtown Minneapolis.

Without a doubt, the single largest tourist attraction not only in Bloomington, but in the whole state of Minnesota is the Mall of America. Every year around Christmas time, special charter flights from cities like Chicago, Milwaukee and spots in the Dakotas and in Iowa are made just so that people can shop at the mall. Currently, the mall features 2.5 million square feet of retail space and well over 500 stores to choose from. There is also a small amusement park inside the mall called The Park at the Mall of America. The theme park is currently undergoing a rebranding and will be known as Nickelodeon Universe in a short time. Of course, everyone who calls Bloomington home wants a Bloomington apartment as near to the mall as possible and you’ll notice that the closer you are to the mall, the higher your rent will be.

When trying to pinpoint what the best part of Bloomington is, you have to look at the people. The stereotype of super nice folks in Minnesota is very true and the people there pride themselves on this perception. The Twin Cities is also a very accepting city for gay and lesbian folks and it is also a much more diverse place to live than most people think. It is no wonder then that Bloomington apartments are becoming more and more popular as the population of the city grows year by year.

If you plan on moving to Bloomington, you can expect to pay around $650 for a studio unit with approximately 500-550 square feet. If you are interested in a one bedroom unit, you are looking at between $700-$850 depending on how close you are to the local airport or the mall, which are right next to each other. Finally, if you’re searching for a two bedroom or larger unit, your rent will easily be over $1000, but a fully decked out unit with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms will usually not be over $1500.
