Boston - A Great Place to Live

There are only a few spots on the globe where you can safely say that people are perfectly content to live in that particular spot. The city of Boston, for millions of reasons, seems to have an extremely high percentage of thoroughly satisfied residents. The city of Boston dates back as far as the country, itself. It was one of the first settled towns, and the role that Boston played in helping to make the United States the country it is today is well documented. What some people may not know is that Boston is a global center for arts, theatre, opera, ballet, business, sports and trade. The cost of living here might be high, but a good percentage of residents wouldn’t want to live on any other patch of land in the universe.

Attractions - Things to See in Boston

While a Boston apartment may cost you more than a unit of similar size would in other parts of the country, the perks of living in this vibrant city are more than worth it. Boston has world famous museums, including a science museum that is one of the best in the country. The dedication the Boston populace has for the local sports teams like the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Patriots are legendary, and there is nothing quite like spending a lazy summer’s afternoon in the bleachers at Fenway Park. But you don’t have to spend any money to enjoy a nice day in Boston. The newly revitalized waterfront has been given a major face lift by the recently completed Big Dig and you now have parks and public space galore. It is no wonder then that people are willing to pay more for a Boston apartment to live in such a great city.

It is hard to pinpoint Boston’s “best” feature, but the sheer amount of diversity, of things to do, and sights to see really puts Boston on par with places like New York City and Los Angeles. Few places on earth can boast the number of historical sites as well as cultural landmarks that Boston can, and although the cost of living is higher, if you can afford the higher rent, it is an absolutely magical place to call home.

Apartment Rentals and Average Rents

So, how much does it cost to live in Boston? A studio without a view and with a floor plan below 400 square feet will run you a shade under $900 a month. The same unit with a better location and view will easily run $1400 a month. If you’re after a one bedroom with a bit more room, around 600-800 square feet, you can easily expect to pay upwards of $1200-$1400 a month. If money is no object and you can afford a 3-bedroom, multiple bath unit, rents of $2500-$4000 are common. The prices are high, but the rewards of living in such an awesome city more than makes up for it.
