Located in the dead center of the state, Indianapolis is the quintessential Midwestern city. Founded in 1821 as the state capital of Indiana, Indianapolis began life as a trading center for farmers all throughout the state. Some farmers would travel for days through almost impassable roads to get to the big city and sell their crop to the citizenry. Today, Indianapolis is still a city that thrives on agricultural trade, but also on banking, finance and tourism. Every year, thousands of people visit the city for the annual Indianapolis 500 motor race, as well as Colts football and Pacers basketball. And in typical Midwestern fashion, tourists and new residents are treated to warm hospitality and a welcoming handshake. It is no wonder that Indianapolis apartments are so popular!

Without a doubt, there are plenty of things to do in this great city, but things really heat up during Memorial Day weekend, home to the Indianapolis 500 motor race. The self proclaimed Most Famous Race in the World happens once per year with a build up that goes on for several weeks before hand. The event and continuing events at the racetrack throughout the year pump millions into the economy here. The city of Indianapolis is also famous for having several award winning museums and cultural events throughout the calendar year, as well. There is also two very competitive professional sports teams with the Colts and Pacers.

The best quality of Indianapolis is its people. If you’ve never experienced Midwestern hospitality, it may come as a bit of a surprise to you the first time. Strangers holding the door for you in public, people you don’t know striking up conversations in lines across town, courteous drivers and an accepting, liberal nature make Indianapolis a genuinely fun place to live. It may take some getting use to if people in your home town don’t act this way, but once you experience it for the first time, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

If you’re in the market for a studio Indianapolis apartment, you can expect to pay around $400-$550 per month in rent. If you need more space, a one bedroom Indianapolis apartment will start at $600 to $900 per month. A larger two bedroom Indianapolis apartment will go for $1000 or more and a super sized Indianapolis apartment will be $1200 or more per month.
