One of the fastest growing cities east of the Mississippi over the last 50 years has been Atlanta. This jewel of the South has made a name for itself by becoming the capital of trade, banking and technology for an entire region. But a city doesn’t grow at the rate Atlanta has unless there are some wonderful suburbs to call home. Atlanta has dozens of these, including Marietta. The city of Marietta is located just to the northwest of downtown Atlanta and is serviced by highway 75 and the 285 beltway so getting into downtown for work and play is simple. It is also one of the most reasonably priced suburbs, which is great if you’re looking for a premium Marietta apartment.

There are plenty of things to do in the Atlanta metro area year round. Atlanta is a city that takes its sports very seriously. You have Georgia Tech University located just outside of Marietta and the larger University of Georgia located just down the road in Athens. Both schools field dozens of competitive sports teams, including top ranked men’s basketball and football teams. There is even a rivalry game each year in football that draws tens of thousands of screaming fans. The pro teams here are also very popular. The Atlanta Falcons football team is extremely popular and a regular participant in the playoffs in the NFL. The newly formed Atlanta Thrashers hockey team has already become a playoff participant in their short history and have a great following for a southern team in a cold weather sport. The Marietta area is also a beautifully landscaped town that is wonderful for walking, biking and just enjoying. The weather in Atlanta does get chilly in the winters but you don’t see much in the way of snow. The summers are warm and comfortable.

The best part about living in Marietta is the people. For those folks that have never experienced real southern hospitality, it can be a bit overwhelming at first. Expect to receive smiles and welcoming nods from strangers when you visit Marietta. If you choose to visit one of Marietta’s fine restaurants, you can go expecting fine service and a night you’ll remember. Like most folks who move here, you might just find out that you don’t have a desire to live anywhere else again!
