No exploration of Tampa is complete without mentioning the wonderful beaches here. The phrase “sugar sand” is often used to describe the amazingly soft sand that is found on many of the gulf beaches, from Mobile in Alabama, all the way down to Ft. Myers and Naples in South Florida. Tampa’s old district, Ybor City, is now a nightlife and entertainment district, and many of the old cigar rolling buildings are being restored so that this great town can honor its past.

As is the case with most of Florida, the best part of living in Tampa is the weather. Year round sun and year round warm temperatures are a way of life here. While the rest of the country is digging out from under the latest snow storm, you’ll be sunning yourself on the beach. The only negative about the weather here is that the Tampa area is often plagued by thunderstorms during the summer months. It is why the local NHL team is called the Tampa Bay Lightning.
