Just when it looks like Florida couldn’t possibly fit another beautiful city within its borders, it manages to tuck Pensacola away on the tip of the panhandle. The city of Pensacola is literally the last stop before you hit Alabama, but it should never be considered any less of a city because of its remote nature. Pensacola might just have the best beaches in the entire state, which is saying something when you consider Daytona and Miami Beach are often ranked in the top ten world wide. The advantage that the Gulf beaches have is warmer, calmer water and some of the most incredible sand you’ll find anywhere. The sand in Pensacola is extremely soft and pleasant to walk in, unlike Daytona, who’s sand feels like concrete. Pensacola is also a town filled with fun things to do and plenty of good jobs.
Pensacola makes its bones being a fantastic resort town on Florida’s panhandle. Most people outside of the gulf coast region don’t even consider Pensacola to be a city worth checking out since most people don’t think it is far enough south, but the weather in Pensacola is wonderful throughout the year and for folks that live in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi, Pensacola is like having their own private Miami, just a lot closer. But swimming and sunbathing isn’t the only thing to do here, there is excellent fishing and boating in Pensacola, too. There is also diving, snorkeling and SCUBA to take advantage of, as well. Just north of Pensacola is a worthwhile visit into what’s left of Florida’s natural forests. It wasn’t that long ago that verdant forests like these covered most of the northern part of the state. Today, only patches remain.
Maybe the best part of living in Pensacola is the fact that the town is still so unknown to many tourists that once you discover it and fall in love with what it has to offer, it is almost like you’re in on a private secret that only a few thousand people know. Most residents here don’t even venture too far south because Pensacola has all of the Florida sunshine and beaches it needs right there!
