Tucked away in the southwest corner of Florida is the town of Naples. Forgotten among the theme parks and the tourist beaches in the rest of the state, Naples is a last vestige of old fashioned Florida before the tourist swarms turned the state into a parody of itself. The city of Naples is an interesting mix of old and new. In some sections, it looks like Anytown American, but in other spots, where the fast food joints fade away and the retirement communities blend into the saw grass, Naples is a beautiful reminder of what Florida use to be: an untouched paradise with sugar sand beaches, towering palms and friendly people just waiting to make you feel at home. If you’re looking for a place to call home and not just an apartment to live in, Naples is exactly what you’re looking for.
Unlike so many other spots in Florida, Naples prides itself on giving its residents LESS to do than in most other Florida towns. There isn’t a Mickey Mouse character around the corner and there are only a few modest nightspots here. What there is, however, is sun, sand and friendly people to get to know. If your idea of a fun night out is drinks by the ocean while you watch the sun set, than Naples is going to be a perfect spot for you. There is a large retirement community here, but it is unfair to pigeon hole Naples as simply an old folks home. There is a good mix of young and old here; old souls in young bodies that realize the priceless quality of peace and quiet, who have come to Naples to enjoy one of the few coastal towns that hasn’t been taken over by seaside developers.
While isolation may be a severe drawback to other towns, it is Naples spot all alone on the Southwest corner of the state that makes it a town that has seemingly been forgotten by time. Only Ft. Myers is a short drive away, and much like Naples, it is a town that has been left here by the 1950’s. It is amazing to think that in the not so distant past, all of Florida, from Key West to Jacksonville looked like Naples does today. If you’re looking for some quiet, sultry summer evenings, Naples is the place for you.
If you’re in the market for a studio Naples apartment, you can expect to pay $550-$650 per month. A one bedroom Naples apartment will cost you $700-$850 per month, while a two bedroom Naples apartment will generally go for $850-$1100. A super sized three bedroom Naples apartment will start at $1150 with no real ceiling. |
