If you’re looking for one of the few spots left on Florida’s golden coastline that isn’t overdeveloped and full of tourists year round, you should check out Melbourne. Located just to the south of Daytona Beach and due east of Orlando, Melbourne is a shining jewel that has somehow escaped the curse of overdevelopment that has ruined so many other coastal Florida cities. Founded in the 1860’s, the city today thrives on the nearby space and aeronautics industry, as well as the massive nearby military base and on tourism. Rent here is affordable when compared to cities to the south like Miami and Boca Raton and parts of the beach are still completely undeveloped, which makes for incredible sun rises and plenty of walking space. Renting a Melbourne apartment is a wonderful way to get to know this beautiful city.

While the city of Melbourne relies on nearby tourist hubs like Daytona, Orlando, Tampa and Miami for fun, there is still plenty to do right in the town itself. Without a doubt, the biggest attraction in Melbourne is the seemingly endless beach. For visitors that are only familiar with the more touristy spots in Florida, the beach front in Melbourne will come as quite a shock. There are section here that are completely unchanged since tall sailing ships from the east discovered it 500 years ago. It almost overwhelms the mind to think of the potential value in this beachfront property, and one can almost feel the coming development, but for now, waves lap lazily at the sand and couples walk hand in hand on empty dunes like they have for generations. Melbourne is one of the quietest and most serene spots left in coastal Florida.

Much like the rest of the state, the beach, the palm trees and the fun here wouldn’t be possible without the weather. While things can get a little hot during July and August, the rest of the year here is picture perfect. While the rest of the country is shoveling show and dealing with icy roads, the worst thing to happen in Melbourne is the yearly arrival of spring breakers. When you combine the incredible weather, the miles and miles of beach and the friendly people, it is no wonder that Melbourne is such a popular place to call home.

If you’re looking for your own piece of this paradise, a Melbourne apartment will generally run you $600-$700 for a studio space. If you’re looking for a one bedroom Melbourne apartment, you can expect to pay $700-$900 depending on how close you are to the beach. A larger two bedroom Melbourne apartment will generally run you $950-$1100, while a three bedroom Melbourne apartment will cost $1200-$1400. If you’re looking for a super sized Melbourne apartment, you can expect to pay $1500 or more every month.
