With the possible exception of Orlando, no other spot in the country is visited by more kids every year than Washington, D.C. This beautiful city is known throughout the world for its monuments, its incredible museums and its southern hospitality. While the cost of living in the general D.C. area is high, most people wouldn’t trade living in this town for anything in the world. Founded in 1790, Washington, D.C. was little more than a swamp on the Potomac River when it was first made into a town. Through the backbreaking work of thousands, the city that is now the capital of the United States has taken shape. Today, Washington D.C. is a city that plays host to millions of tourists a year and boasts many high paying jobs. A Washington D.C. apartment is a great way to situate yourself and get to know this beautiful place.

Obviously, any city that draws millions of tourists a year has plenty to do. The most obvious tourist attraction is the monuments that stretch from one end of the city to the other. Many of them are well known, like the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, but there are hundreds more, some of which are quite obscure. The other major attraction that makes Washington great are the dozens of incredible museums. Most people have heard of the biggies like the Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian, but there are hundreds of smaller ones dedicated to almost every facet of government and human achievement imaginable.

For most people, the best part about living in Washington D.C. is the feeling that you are truly in the middle of where the action is. For political junkies, it is like living at the epicenter of a constant earthquake of news and events. For others, the thousands of government jobs provide great wages and a fun way to earn a living. Regardless of how you choose to earn a living here, chances are, there won’t be many dull moments living in this fast paced city.

If you are interested in living in a studio Washington D.C. apartment, you can expect to pay $600-$4000 a month in rent. One important thing to remember, Washington D.C. is often filled with politicians and diplomats who have more money than they know what to do with and many apartments here cater to that audience. A one bedroom Washington D.C. apartment will generally cost $900-$5000 a month, while a two bedroom Washington, D.C. apartment will start at $1200. A three bedroom or larger Washington D.C. apartment will cost at least $1500 a month or more. There are bargains here in this city, but it may take some time to discover them.
