Nestled in the beautiful and majestic Rocky Mountains and in the shadow of Denver is the town of Boulder, Colorado. The town was founded in the mid-1800’s, Boulder has now ended up being the western most city in the Denver metro area. The population of Boulder is just under a hundred thousand, but when you combine it with the rest of the greater Denver area, the population jumps to just over two and a half million. While Boulder was originally a mining town, it is now best known throughout the United States as being the home of the University of Colorado at Boulder and home to one of the best college football programs, year in, year out. You don’t have to be a big college sports fan to live in Boulder, but it sure makes it more fun!

The biggest attraction in the Boulder area is, of course, the university. The city of Boulder is an interesting mix of suburban families and young college-aged adults which makes for both a youthful atmosphere and a grown-up place to live and work. When the average resident of Boulder wants to have a bit of fun, many people make the short commute east to downtown Denver. With the numerous pro sports teams, museums and sights to see, the greater Boulder are is a great place to call home. Of course, the most dramatic part of living in Boulder is the natural surroundings. The Rocky Mountains offer some of the best skiing in the country, as well as biking, hiking and picnicking throughout the year.

Boulder is home to the University of Colorado, one of the largest and most popular schools in the country. You get the usual cheering crowds for Division 1 football and major college basketball, but you also get a young, bohemian crowd that is very accepting and liberal in nature, too. That makes Boulder a great destination for gay and lesbian folks who are looking for an open minded community to call home. When you combine the nature, the people and the number of things to do in Boulder, it is no wonder it is such a fast growing community.

So, how much will a Boulder apartment cost? Since Boulder is a college town, there is a good mix of affordable and luxury housing available. A studio suite usually starts around $500-$600, while a one bedroom goes from $700-$950 in most parts of town. If you’re looking for something a little bigger, you can expect to pay upwards of $950-$1200 for a two bedroom, and $1500 or more for a three bedroom or a fancy smaller unit with all of the bells and whistles.
