As the second most populous city in the United States, Los Angeles is a city that offers absolutely everything that anyone could be looking for. With a metro population of over 13 million people and a climate that most people find ideal, the city is a unique mix of cultures, styles and attitudes. Founded in 1781 as part of Mexico, the city of Los Angeles didn’t become United States property until 1848 and didn’t become incorporated until 1850. The growth of Los Angeles from a dry little railroad town to a super metropolis was captured beautifully in the film Chinatown, which showed how the city managed to gain the fresh water it needed to sustain the current population. Los Angeles stands today as one of America’s shining cities that helps define what a world city can be.

With the possible exception of New York City, no other spot in North America has a wider range of culture, family events and sports than Los Angeles. Many shows that finish on Broadway immediately come to Los Angeles for long runs. The city is filled with some of the best live theatre and music venues in the world, thanks in no small part to the fact that Hollywood is only a few minutes away from downtown L.A. The Los Angeles area is also known as being a bastion for sports. The Dodgers have called Los Angeles home for decades, and the Angels are recent World Series Champions. The metro area even sports two hockey teams, the Kings and the Ducks. College athletics are also very popular here, with the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles fighting it out for city bragging rights.

But all of what makes Los Angeles the city that so many people love wouldn’t be possible without the amazing climate here. With winter highs in the mid 60’s, and summer nights seldom dropping below 55, Los Angeles boasts a dry, warm climate that most people find absolutely perfect. Rain storms are seldom, but can come out of nowhere when they do. The California Dream that artists such as the Beach Boys and the Hollywood Tourism Board have been selling for years might include star tours and surfing, but it all revolves around the palm trees and the sun. More than any other factor, it is the weather that brings people here.

So, how much does all of this magic cost? If you’re looking for a studio Los Angeles apartment, you can expect to pay $800-$900 per month. A one bedroom Los Angeles apartment will usually start at $1000 and can go as high as $2500 depending on the location and the amenities. A two bedroom Los Angeles apartment is difficult to find for under $1500 a month, and a super sized three bedroom or larger Los Angeles apartment would normally start at at least $2000.
